Dear Beloved,

Welcome to the internet home of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Somerset Parish, located in Princess Anne, Maryland.  St. Andrew's is a church in the Diocese of Easton in Eastern Maryland and is part in the Episcopal Church.

Please browse our website, which contains information to better acquaint you with our parish community. Somerset Parish is one of the original parishes of the colony of Maryland, founded in 1692.   St. Andrew's today is the parish church.  It was begun in 1770 as a colonial chapel of ease, and expanded in the latter part of the 19th century as the population of Princess Anne increased to the size it is today.   There is much history in St. Andrew's.  The church and the graveyard surrounding it have been witness to over 230 years of history on Maryland's Eastern Shore, and they serve as reminders of our past.

St. Andrew's also cherishes its traditional Anglican worship.  Music is a big part of our Sunday liturgy, from the English Change Ringing Bells resounding as one enters the church to worship on Sunday, to the sounds of a pipe organ, the sung worship service and the celebration of Holy Eucharist which all highlight the beauty and spirituality of our common life together in praise and thanksgiving to God.

We are an inviting and welcoming community.  There are parishioners from many walks of life who come together to worship, to learn, and to carry out the mission of the Church.

I invite you to join us in encountering the Divine:  be part of our Sunday worship service, either the quiet intimacy of our 8:00 a.m. Rite I Holy Eucharist or the musical splendor of our 10:00 a.m. Rite II Holy Eucharist.  Examine the beauty, architecture and craftsmanship of the church itself. Stay for some conversation and refreshments after the service.  Stroll through our graveyard where people of high and low estate from the past three centuries are buried.   Take part in our Wednesday noon Healing Service in our chapel.  Be part of one of the many social events in our Parish House.   There is a place here for you.  Whether you are a visitor looking to encounter God in a place of worship or someone who is seeking a church home, you are welcome at St. Andrew's.   I look forward to seeing you soon.

Yours in Christ,

Father David
